Adverse Weather Guidance
If it is adverse weather in the morning, we may need to restrict access around the school site and may encourage children to use the main school entrance rather than access via the playground. Please be advised that when the weather is inclement access around and leading to school may be hazardous, so please be careful and dress accordingly for the conditions.
Emergency/School Closure
In the event of an emergency the school will contact parents as soon as possible through the school text messaging service. This is the case whether the emergency takes place within the school day, or after hours. Examples of such emergencies include snow closure, burst pipes, no water, fire, etc. In the event of an emergency leading to school closure parents can listen to BBC Radio Kent or Heart FM for school closure listings.
Alternatively sign up to www.kentclosures.co.uk to be updated by KCC to your computer, tablet or mobile. This is a service provided for the residents of Kent, keeping you up to date with school and other KCC building closures. This is where we will post information about any closures or status of the school first – please register and sign up!
Once a decision to close has been made we will notify parents via the Kent Closures website and through our Twitter feed (@Brenzett1).

Emergency Childcare
Our aim as a school is to remain open, where appropriate. This may result in us opening for ‘emergency childcare’ only. By this we mean that if we can form a ‘skeleton staff’ at school, we can remain open for those children who can get to school and whose parents need to get to work. If this is to be the case, we will contact parents to let them know that we are open for ‘emergency childcare’ only. We always have to be mindful of our adult:child ratios. We will work with the children through a ‘suspended’ curriculum for these sessions to develop project learning. Other educational activities can be found below to keep children who are not in school, actively learning.
Below is a list of websites that may be of use to you to ensure that your child’s learning does not suffer, even if the weather does. Please use this time to talk to your child/ren and to get outside and enjoy the snowy weather. You may use the time to do some extra reading with your child or to extend their home learning in readiness for a return to school.

Health and Safety
It is essential that the school has an emergency telephone number for both parents and where possible contact details for a friend or relative. To improve communications of a less urgent nature we are happy to contact you via text or email. We ask that you inform the school of any changes in these details.
