This Term
What’s happening this term:
English - In Literacy we will be reading Lost in the Toy Museum, we will be writing character descriptions and our own Toy adventures. Towards the end of the term we will be reading The boy, the fox and the horse where we will be thinking about hopes and dreams. Our SPAG focus will be verbs, adverbs, and use of commas in lists.
Maths - The main focus this term will be multiplication and division moving onto length, height and statistics later in the term.
Science - The topic for Science is Seasonal Change with a focus on Spring. We will be investigating weather patterns, going on a spring walk and writing Spring poems.
History- Our theme is How have toys changed? We will be sequencing toys into a physical timeline, investigating artefacts from the past and begin to pose questions. We will learn how teddy bears have changed and ‘interview’ an old teddy bear before considering what toys may be like in the future.
RE - The theme for RE this term is Salvation, our big question is Why does Easter matter to Christans. We will be exploring the stories of Holy Week and Easter and make a links with the idea of Salvation.
Art- In art we will be learning about primary and secondary colours, colour mixing techniques, and applying these skills in painting and printing.
Music - We will be looking at sound patterns. Through fairytales, children are introduced to the concept of sound patterns (rhythms). We will explore clapping along to repeated words and phrases, creating rhythmic patterns to tell a familiar fairytale.
PSHE - The theme is Healthy Me, we will be looking at the importance of a healthy diet, ways that help us stay relaxed and discussing how to stay safe with medicines.
