Reading at Brenzett
Brenzett Primary School has recently bought new books to improve our reading scheme which will ensure progression throughout the school. We have increased our selection of books within the scheme so each child will be given an age appropriate book and we will no longer have free readers.
Books are an important part of the day and your child is encouraged to read at every opportunity. We listen to the children read as much as possible throughout the week. Please do not forget to comment in your child's yellow reading record to let us know how your child has got on with their book.
Your child will be given the opportunity to change their book when they have demonstrated the ability to understand the story and discuss the content with their teacher. You can support the development of your child’s comprehension skills by asking questions about what they have read.
Another resource available to support reading is online at Oxford Owl, this has a great selection of ebooks, follows the same scheme as the school and is free to sign up.
